May VK4FN Frank Nolan outlines to Council official set up of VK4WI operating between 10am and 11am simultaneously on 7.100m/cs and 14.116m/cs and Tuesday nights 8-9 with a Frequency Measuring Service.
November and a third simultaneous freq added, 52.004mcs.
Council
expressed thanks to Frank VK4FN for the part played by VK4WI in rebuilding the
Institute, a landmark in the history of the Division.
Daughter Beverley typing up the news as it came in even whilst on air and Merl the XYL providing the goodies and tea for the many visitors we had to vk4wia.
There had been no vk4wia news broadcasts for a long period and Alf had to completely rewire the 3 Go-9 tranceivers, each standing 6 feet high and the finals lit up like a xmas tree and the filaments alone drew a huge amount of current.
Many callbacks from Overseas.
Saturday night after work at the State Theatre Alf VK4OL would take the broadcast from the Voice of America with their segment on Amateur Radio and with the permission of the USA Embassy here would rebroadcast it along with VK4 news.
The old Kingfisher net was a great help as they would also collect any tidbits from their contacts during the week.
There are many memories that go back into that era and will always be
retained by Alf. Many have gone on but their spirit is still there in the
hearts of fellow amateurs all over the world .
